The history of cocktails: the Boulevardier

This story begins in Harry’s Bar Paris where the famous barman Harry McElhone invented this cocktail for Erskine Gwynne. Later, Gwynne mentioned the Boulevardier cocktail in his ‘Barflies and Cocktails’, published in 1927. Erskine Gwynne was famous as he was the magnate Alfred Vanderbilt’s grandson and had founded a monthly magazine called ‘Boulevardier’.
